Should work in previous distros too, since the function used was already available in mysql 5.1.73 in squeeze.
Please test building for squeeze and lucid before I merge.
Tested on Squeeze and Lucid. As expected, all right.
Incidentally, the solution is consistent with that used in Qt3/TQt3 – see TDE/qt3.
