TDE R14.1 does not honour the system keyboard setting. #5

Basic information

  • TDE version: R14.1.0
  • Distribution: Devuan chimaera/Debian 11.1
  • Hardware: amd64

Description

The machine has been correctly configured during OS installation and the locale is english. The keyboard is however Norwegian Bokmål.
The Virtual keyboards tty1-6 work fine.
TDE R14.0 works fine.
Login to TDE after updating to 14.1 and the keyboard is set to US.

Steps to reproduce

1.Set up a machine to work with a non-english keyboard with the root account.
2.Set localke to en_US or en_GB
3 Login to TDE.
I have not tried this with a virgin account.

Hi @martinhodges,
I have a similar setup with an Italian keyboard and the italian layout is kept. I do not use kkbswitch though, just TDE kxkb.
In R14.1.0 there are updates on kxkb to make it to work properly with setxkbmap, so kbbswitch should no longer be required.

Can you also explain more about:

  1. where is the norwegian keyboard first setup? on kbbswtich, TDE control panel or using Devuan tools?
  2. what do you have in TDE Control center page for keyboard layout? (a screenshot would be good, so I can test the same here)
  3. if you have the keyboard already as en_US (not a new machine), can you give me the steps to reproduce the problem?
