There are tdeio slaves in tdelibs, tdebase and standalone applications. It would make sense to rearrange them in a more structured and centralized way.
Important tdeio slaves should be part of a default installations.
Non essential ones should be packed as separate packages to allow a user to install them or not as he sees fit.

Regrouping what can be is appealing, not only for tdeio slaves.
In a bug report Darell suggested to blend the translation files, that are at the moment in i18n, into their respective appli for example.

IMO, it should be the other way around, e.g. translation files from individual applications should be moved to tde-i18n. Why? Simple.
If you speak language A, you don't want to have the translation files of another 30+ languages installed on your system, it would be a waste of time
If you speak language A, you want to install the related tde-i18n package and have all the required translation installed. You don't want to have and install additional translation packages for specific applications
So IMO the correct way would be to move all translation files of all applications to the respective tde-i18n packages.
