Opendesktop repos don't work #39

Basic information

  • TDE version: R14.1.x
  • Distribution: Devuan Beowulf
  • Hardware: arm64

Description

Superkaramba, desktop wallpapers and other stuff can't be downloaded from within the apps directly. Most likely URL was changed to something like

h**ps://www .pling .com/s/Trinity/browse/cat/178/order/latest/

(spaces and stars in link intended to prevent linking by googlebot)

Steps to reproduce

Open superkaramba and try to download any module from the opendesktop

At a time when the code was reworked from KNewStuff to TDENewStuff, the download from OpenDesktop certainly worked there - I tested it to download some wallpapers for the desktop.

However, it seems that these sites and with them perhaps their APIs change very often.

ok, thanks for the feedback Slavek. Let's add this to R14.0.10 release, it would be good to have it back to a functional status.

The definitions of providers for OpenDesktop content have been updated that should solve this issue. Please can you verify that?

Seems to be working now. I can get contents from openDesktop, although installation seems to fail some times. Not sure this is related to the contents or the way we manage that.

Seems to be working fine too.. One flaw is that opendesktop servers doesn't have category for the superkaramba themes. :)
Anyway to stay on topic, I was able to download wallpaper and use it without any problem.

Superkaramba category name was updated by @blu.256 in TDE/tdeutils@bb515c966b.

The OpenDesktop API seems to have changed again, using a new URL, introducing new desktop-unrelated categories and changing some category names.

UPD: The OpenDesktop API is currently broken (2021/07/11). There is probably nothing that can currently be done to resolve this.
