From time to time I see in konqueror in the side bar under system doubled entries. I do not know why it happens, but now it happened again and (as I know more about tdeio) I checked the processes:

I tried to run 5× konqueror – once from Konsole so that it could not use the existing instance, but I never noticed this problem. Tested on TDE R14.0.7~pre.

could be local issue - it doesn't matter how many instances of konqueror I start I have the entries doubled
Enabled debug and I see it is reading two directories
/home/user/.trinity/share/apps/konqsidebartng/entries/and
/opt/trinity/share/apps/konqsidebartng/entries/so what if I delete the local copy and at which level?
It seems this from 2015 is from KDE3
removed
/home-lisa/user/.trinity/share/apps/konqsidebartng/started konqueror file manager and it created
/home-lisa/user/.trinity/share/apps/konqsidebartng/filemanagement/entries/After starting konqueror again it again shows double entries.
Closed and started konqueror several times
no duplications. Waiting 1min may be and started konqueror again - again duplicates
I can confirm this bug. I experienced it only one time by random, but that under TDE R14.1.x branch and that nearly a year ago. So Deloptes is right about it, I think.
I can also confirm this bug. I am not able to reproduce it systematically, but it seems to happen more if I rebuild Konqueror without restarting the system or if I switch back and forth through different accounts.
Usually after a reboot the problem is gone
What do you mean "rebuild Konqueror without restarting the system"?
IMO there is something missing in the code - something like finish() or exit() somewhere.
My theory is that as it is forwarding slave it receives twice the information if some other process is already running - but it is just a theory.

by "rebuild Konqueror" I meant I built tdebase (or part of it) locally, usually for testing purpose. This is usually not a clean chroot build. After local install, sometimes I see the double entries, so that could be one of the reason. But after a restart or a clean tdebase installation, the problem disappears. Unfortunately I have not yet found a way to reproduce it systematically, so troubleshooting is not easy

for me it happens every second time I open Konqueror with the side bar set to "system". For example open one instance - problem shows up, open seconds instance, while first one is open - problem does not show up. Every next instance does not show the problem.
Today I first saw this issue when I started Slax with Trinity-testing (ie R14.1.0~pre) and started Konqueror! Nothing else I did and the problem manifested itself. Interestingly, I have never seen this problem on TDE R14.0.x and earlier.
By the way, yesterday I once saw the mentioned problem in R14.0.7~pre. So it is certain that it is not a regression in R14.1.0.

I tried this but still not able to reproduce this systematically. What Konqueror profile are you using, just for info?
I use konqueror as filebrowser. I see it happening when system was open and I closed konqueror, then open again. I looked briefly in system, but did not see anything and started looking into sidebar, but did not have much time.
I also see that some nfs and othets are not opening properly in the system sidebar.
