When I open Kate settings window the left pane is way too narrow - see attached screenshot. In order to make the pane wider I first have to make the whole setting window wider and only then I can increase the width of left pane.

@jstolarek, it's actually caused by too long translations for "Keep meta-information past sessions" and "Delete unused meta-information after". The easiest way to fix it is to change those in the translation.

Note, if you can't make them any shorter translating them literally in an any meaningful way, you may change them and add some more verbose description to the what's this text, e.g. in Russian those are translated as "Save session" and "Delete session's settings after" respectively.

Hi Janek,
long time to see.
I can confirm this bug and in fact I have been aware of that since 2013 or so. It is not related to traslations since it happens also in a default English based installation.
As you said, the left panel can only be resized to a given max value at the beginning. After resizing the window (even making it smaller) the left panel can be further enlarged.

PS: thanks for the other issue reports too.

(even making it smaller)

Correction, bad memory. It seems the panel on the right side has a minimum width without an horizontal scrollbar and the max width of the left panel to be limited to dialog width - right panel min width

It seems like an easy fix would be to change the layout so that these are displayed in two lines instead of one. Would this be doable?
