open the menu again: the search box is already selected without the need to click the "search shortcut". After waiting for a few seconds, the search field lose the focus and the string "press / to search" appears again.
1. open the TDE Classic menu
2. type "search shortcut" then "sometext"
3. press ESC -> this clears the input field
4. press Esc again -> this close the menu
5. open the menu again: the search box is already selected without the need to click the "search shortcut". After waiting for a few seconds, the search field lose the focus and the string "press / to search" appears again.

Can't confirm the last one: for me the focus remains on the search field and only goes away when I do any mouse movement at all.

In any case, it is not important how it comes to activate the item - when you open the menu and use the down / up arrow keys to select an item, it behaves the same. Focus on the item remains preserved when the menu is closed, regardless of how focus has obtained.
I also not watch the 5th – item still has focus.

I found what it was. As long as you don't move the mouse, the search box keeps the focus. As soon as you move the mouse over some other parts of the menu, the search box loses the focus.

Takes a few seconds here.... not sure what could be the difference but I can test once you have a fix for the rest 😄

Please ignore the commit above, I just discovered that in some cases the focus is somehow restored when opening the menu again.
