Additional:- When I changed to another Desktop, the system froze completely. Had to hard-reset the computer. Now running Beowolf.

Changed /run/user/1000/ICEAuthority from root.root to dad.dad my username. Logged out. Logged back in. Yes, problem gone away :-) So far. But ... Logged out and re-booted. Logged back…
