fcl won't run in TDE session; works as expected in IceWM session #170

Program File Commander (fcl) comes from:
http://silk.apana.org.au/fc2development.php
It works as expected in IceWM, but not in TDE 14.1.1 or 14.1.2 in Bookworm. I reported this in the devel mailing list 2024-01-31, and 2023-11-12, not limited to Bookworm, but also occurring in Jammy.

Same PC as initial comment also has Trixie installed. In it, fcl works as expected.

Hi Felix, in TDE there are bot ha GTK2 and GTK3 engine avaiable. What is install on your system?
Also I suggest you try running fcl in the following scenarios:

no TDE GTK engines installed
only TDE GTK2 engine installed
only TDE GTK3 engine installed

Please let us know how it goes in all 3 cases, that may provide some useful info.

Also check the same in both bookoworm and trixie installation to see if there is any difference.

I assume GTK+ 2.x symbols detected. Using GTK+ 2.x and GTK+ 3 in the same process is not supported is the result of the installed kgtk-qt3-trinity package, which set libkgtk2.so as LD_PRELOAD. Please uninstall it, and then log out and log in again.

I didn't remember filing the earlier bug, searching gitea failed to find it, and searching my email failed to find it. It seems gitea has been excellent at both ignoring my report subscriptions, and not sending me a CC of any new bug I report. I never got any notice that MicheleC responded 3 days ago, so I'm surprised that today I got bug report email about the older bug. I have not gotten any bugmail at all from this bug #170 as yet, even though "notifications" suggest I am a subscriber. I came here as a result of clicking the link in the old bug #17, which I opened due to mail directly from SlavekB, not any bugmail or mailing list mail. Bugzilla always worked as expected, still does where still in use, such as SUSE and RedHat. :p

I assume that you could observe the problem of searching for you because you are not yet included in the team members of Contributors. When I tried to search in TGW, I got the expected result in a very easy way:
